Google MMO?

February 4th, 2009 No comments

So…  We’ve already got Google Earth.   Google Earth now allows for 3D representations of certain areas…  Now you’ll be able to explore the ocean floors with it…  There’s already links in Google Earth to Google’s extensive search engine…. And 3rd party overlay apps are all over the place.

If it hasn’t already happened – when do the Avatars and chat engine become available?  “Where you hanging out?”  “Oh, catch me on 23rd and 3rd.”   “RL or GC (Google Chat) dude?”  “Both.  I’m streaming video too of the party on the street.”

Random engineer at Google reading this on your internet screening log (don’t lie, you know you have one), stop reading and use some of that 10% time to get working.   Cut me in on 0.0001% of the profits.  ;)

Oh god I need mass storage NOW.

April 25th, 2008 No comments

So I’ve managed to fill a 350 gig drive full of designs and mostly raw photos.  COMPLETELY FILLED.

I desperately need to do some file management before something awful happens.  That 350 gigs contains every single digital photo I’ve taken since I started shooting in 2000.  I need viable mass storage options.  The space usage is growing exponentially, every JPEG takes 5 megs, RAW files are even larger.

I need mass storage.  Blu-ray consumer drives, please come out of your infancy quickly.  Please?   *sigh*

And I need to find a better way to build my photo libraries.. Ugh..  When I look at my data dump directories I have hundreds of folders that are labeled only by date.   Data Archival Expert I am NOT.  -_-;;

Nope, no photos here for you..

Nothing else to post tonight.  Automatic processing of photos from Buffalo/Toronto trip is taking forever and a day.

Finished first pass through all of the photos from the wedding.  Now I have to go back and pick out the selected ones for previewing, and then after THAT I get to select the highlights to give a full touch-up to.  That’ll take a while.  I’m definitely only picking a few for the full treatment — beyond that the couple will have to tell me if there are a few they specifically want to get the treatment.  They however are familiar with Photoshop, so I will be giving them a full selection of photos to play with as they please.  This is NOT normally what I would do.

Anyhow — I need to find a better “automatic” color filter for basic previews.   Photoshop in Curves mode can still easily be fooled.   … However, automatic mode in RAW conversion is pretty damned good, even figuring out when a photo was not exposed due to a flash misfire.  Not bad Photoshop, not bad at all…

Uh, enough jibber jabber.   Noise Ninja, DO YOUR MAGIC FASTER DARNIT..

Progress is being made..

August 12th, 2007 No comments

Well, I’ve been making progress with the new blog and photo gallery. WPG2 integration software has been successfully installed, so has crossposting to Livejournal.

Happy to Be Here
This is FRUITS BASKET!

Thumbnailing seems to work just fine.  However, while being able to pull stuff directly from gallery2 is nice, I remain unconvinced that its an effect way for quick photoblogs.  I may have to try out “yapb” instead.

Anyhow, next step is to decide whether or not I want to delete ALL of my old entries and post them here instead after a good scrubbing… Or leave them on LJ.. or do a mix of both…  Bah humbug..   What do you think on that good people?   (I do like the fact that I can selectively decide if a post is friends only or available to the public on the crossposting module..)

Anyhow.. its 2:23.  Damnit, I’m going to bed…
