NO, not Dallas BBQ. We’ll be invading RUB, at 208 W. 23rd street. Reviews are mostly good but definitely has its haters too.. So we’ll have to give it the test.

Those of you going to New York Anime Festival this coming December (And I know there are some of you) — ping me if you are looking for rooming arrangements.  I am looking to set up some rooms since I will also be there for at least one or two of the operation days.

The room rates at the sponsored hotels are pretty expensive.  I’ve found a few tiny places that are offering up more reasonable rates (160/170 a night).  I’ll share the links for those who are interested.

I am even considering securing a short term lease on a 3 bedroom loft apartment in Chelsea.  For me to make this work, I need to know who would want to stay there, how many people, and what you’re willing to pay. No, this isn’t going to be “it’ll cost this much”, it’ll be “how much are you willing to shell out for two nights in Midtown?”   —  If I have enough people interested, I’ll look at the short term lease.  (assuming I can get it.) 

Oh, needless to say, serious committed people only — I can’t afford to provide free crash space and if I front the cash to lease an apartment I damn well need money up front..

As a reminder I will be going to Coney Island this coming Friday Night.  If you wish to join me on the train ride down, I will be leaving from the Delancy Street station around 5:15PM.  Barring that, if you don’t ride with me, call me and let me know where and when you want to meet.   Since people will be coming in at scattered times, its probably best to just call me when you’re there to find out where I am.    Plans include exploring, some more exploring, and hopefully catching the fireworks, which SHOULD start at 9:30.

On Saturday, there will be Stardust REDUX — since my good friend had to drop out last week, I will be going again.  You are free to join us -  we will catch the 7:50PM showing at the Regal Union Square Stadium 14 at Union Square.  Goal is to get there and grab tickets by 7:20, but we might not get there until 7:30…   Let me know if you’re coming!

Alrighty!  I’m skipping movie night tonight.  Instead I’m going to hit Coney Island this Friday night after work.

If you come along, be aware I’m going to probably get there around 6, and stay until after 10pm.  My goal is to catch the fireworks at 9:30.  (Anyone know if they’re still happening?)

Since I’ve been trying to post a photo every day, here’s today’s shot — macro shot of the chain links that “shield” some of the greenery on the street from passing cars… Not that it does much to really hold cars back but hey…  its the thought that counts.

So, what will it be?

Due to cloudy skies, forecast of showers, a screaming headache and laziness — pushing back Coney Island walkabout.    Sorry to those who going to hang out!

Depending on weather forecast, I’m thinking of going either Friday Night, August 24th to try and catch fireworks or any day next weekend (preferably Saturday daytime).   Barring that, Labor Day itself might be the day.   Any takers?

I’m off to wander the city Saturday with the PA folks.  I will be armed with my SLR.

On Sunday, I think I want to go explore Coney Island.  I’ve lived in the city my entire life, and I think I’ve been down there once.  Its kinda scary that I actually have to say “I think” I’ve been down there.   I vaguely remember visiting the Nathan’s, but that’s it.  I want to correct that before Coney Island as we know it disappears.

So I am going to Coney Island on Sunday, and I’m going with my camera.  Anyone wish to join me?
