Wheee…. The Day After party, 1/2/2010

December 22nd, 2009 No comments

We’re past the hump, and the days will only start to grow longer now.

I’m doing ok! How are you? “For now we’re healthy, for now we’re employed, for now we’re happy, if not overjoyed, and we’ll accept the things we cannot avoid… for now…”

Anyway, 1/2/2010 – Saturday after New Years Day, the Day After… Potluck lunch and dinner hangout day at my place in Harlem! Videos, games, food, but most importantly, good company. Daytime party, so folks have the option of going out on the town in the evening.

Ping me here if you want to know the details. Space is limited! XD

Just a Movin Right Along..

December 7th, 2009 No comments

Rumbling right along the December rush.   Both work and life are going to be fighting for my attention, and this week alone is going to be pretty busy..

Poker this past weekend was kind to me, rough to others.   Any short-handed poker session that hands me three pocket Aces, two pocket kings, and other assorted prime cards is a good session – especially in comparison to the way I’ve BEEN trending recently.  Came out making about 150% of my buy-in.   Wrapping up at 6AM was fun, albiet tiring… Slept away sunday.

Anyway, not here to talk about that.

Saturday, 1/2/2010 – Daytime potluck party at my place.    Bring something fun to eat, share with anyone else who comes by.  I’ll make something as well, sho’nuff.  Expect food, music, casual lounging, and frozen patio action during the day.   XD

As for the evening, there are no specific plans. This way anyone who wants to brave the holiday weekend crowds to hit the city for a night on the town have the option of doing so.  :)

No crash space folks, sorry but all available spots are already occupied!

More details to follow over the next few days, but ping me if you are interested.  Let there be food….

Upcoming Event: December Poker

November 25th, 2009 No comments

Time for the last home game of the year.

Saturday December 5th – from 5PM until whenever the last person standing is.  Last game had people playing until 7am.  (Eep!)

Usual low stakes game, but even at low stakes last game there was a $120 pot that fell.  That’s no joke!

If you are interested and want details and an invite, shout out here.  :)

Factory Fabric Raid / Stuff Giveaway – April 18th 2009

April 9th, 2009 No comments

Alright!  The date is tentative but likely to happen.

April 18th, 2009 - Early to Mid Afternoon - Factory Fabric Raid.

I will host a limited number of people to raid my family garment factory for fabric.  We have a good amount of remnant material that needs to move.  Lots of lightweight and colorful fabric – mostly solid colors.  See the picture for some of the colors that might be available.

Supplies are limited, material will move fast, and if you try to take something without asking me if its available I might just throw you off the roof.  Just to be perfectly clear – this is a live factory – horseplay will not be tolerated!

That being said, there’s a TON of fabric.  We need to clear the floor before the next season hits.   Be sure to contact me if you are interested.   Please ask me before you “bring a friend” — I only have space to bring a few people and since this is remnant fabric from exisiting stock I need to vet everyone.

—– Part 2

Afterwards, if I have enough stuff to give away I will be bringing people to my parents home for “Stuff Giveaway Part 2 — Take My Manga, Please” — where I will hand off a ton of old manga and book collections, maybe some toys, goods, electronics etc.   Again as before, let me know if you are interested.

Wheee!! Stock Clearing here we come!

Giveaways, Sales, and More Apartment Mutterings

April 3rd, 2009 No comments

Several things…

1.  Okay… All of my costuming and seamstress types who are local to NYC, or are willing to travel…  The factory’s near to bursting with remnant fabrics.  My mom needs help getting rid of some of these remnants.  Lots of stuff.   I am likely to host a fabric raid event on Easter Weekend.   However if you’re local and want to do something on a different day, let me know.   In either case I NEED TO MOVE SOME OF THIS FABRIC.

2.  Also easter weekend I think — I am going to let people raid boxes of random stuff I’m giving away.  Lots of books and manga, some other assorted stuff.   No charge for most of it, although donations towards my new apartment will be gratefully accepted.   If you are interested in coming please let me know.  Likely saturday April 11th.

3.  I will be keeping SOME things for sale, I’ll post a list soon.  Stuff like the resin statues, key collectables, etc…

4.  Apartment is moving along.  On saturday I hit Chinatown restaurant supply shops to buy stuff like mixing bowls, a good cast iron WOK, a butcher knife, etc…   That’ll be fun.  I’ve decided to get traditional curtain rods for the windows, and leave the tension wire for the walls instead.

5.  I need stuff to put up!   All of my friends, please send me stuff to print or actually mail me stuff.  Photos of us (or just you), art, sketches, etc.   Little knick-knacks to remind me of you, send them to meeeee!   My fridge is looking mighty blank.  :)

Dance Dance Revolution — the … theatre production??

December 12th, 2008 No comments

Wow.  I’m scared, so scared.  Apparently someone decided they couldn’t resist basing a avant-theater production on Dance Dance Revolution.

“This December, Les Freres Corbusier transforms the Ohio Theater into a fully immersive, bombed-out discothèque as we fuse unmerciful Japanese rave music with deeply regrettable sophomoric comedy in this one-of-a-kind, futuristic dance spectacular, Dance Dance Revolution. Riffing on fizzy dance musicals like Flashdance and death sport movies such as Rollerball, Dance Dance Revolution is like Footloose set in the future—but much scarier, and with 50 really attractive, barely-clothed young actors and buckets of free beer.”

DanceFreedomForever.com – Welcome

I’m both scared and amused…  Playing through December 20th (Next week) at 66 Wooster Streeet.   So, anyone else curious?  Anyone want to go?
