Otakon 2008
I find it difficult to sit down and write about Otakon 2008 – it was such a fast paced con that much of what happened was a blur of epic proportions. A week of sleeping less than 4 hours a day tends to wear hard, and I’m certainly not 23 anymore. Still I wouldn’t have it any other way – I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was addicted to the pace of running an event.I’ve said that running any con, especially one the size of Otakon, is like surfing the wave of disaster. Every year is a test to see just how well you can ride the wave and guide everything to safety and success. We managed this year to have a fairly smooth wave.If I really wrote everything about the con, I could go on forever. So, here’s a fairly rambling write-up that will probably shorten as I start to forget things, and as the pace starts to blur things may get.. fuzzy…

Went walking on the Williamsburg bridge today.
Mind you, I’m just a WEE bit nervous of heights. This fear mostly goes away if I’m focused on taking photos. This made it difficult when my batteries ran out while walking off the bridge. (oy!)
In an effort to stop being so dependant on Flickr, the gallery has been posted to my primary gallery site, See What Chu Looking At. 
On a different note, added a bunch of photos and new messages from the bridge to New York Narrative. This one I loved the most.

New York Narrative - a set on Flickr
After posting and talking about these photos with Vyxle and others, I decided to make a special themed set out of them.
Images to the “New York Narrative” project will be found messages. I cannot place a message, I can’t use a pre-printed or known viral campaign (unless its taken totally out of contest and manipulated in some way), etc.
Eventually, I’ll get a story out of this..

From Buffalo to Toronto 2007
So, I’m recovering slowly from my trip to Toronto. Of course, I have a minor fuck-ton of stuff to get done, and I’m still catching up. Story of my life — I split my attention between so many things (including stupid things) that I never quite get any one thing accomplished. Ahh well — you don’t care about that.. If you care about anything, its the photos right? So here they are — all 298 photos from the SD 850..

With permission of the couple, Initial previews from the wedding have been uploaded. These have not had any editing or cleanup, and automatic resizing by Gallery has introduced some less than ideal artifacts. However since there was strong interest from family members waiting I thought I’d get something up quickly.

September 2 2007
A short jaunt around town on Sunday — it was a beautiful day and I wasn’t nearly as snap-happy as I would have preferred to be. A screaming migraine made it hard for me to even open my eyes, let alone look at the world. The short time walking around with Anna and Rene was fun, and I successfully resisted the urge to buy a Wii.
Photos include stuff at the Hello Kitty Store, a couple of Times Square things (WHERE IS MY CUP O NOODLES??!), the concert at the Brazilian Parade, and artsy-fartsy junk. -_-;; Some specific photos I found amusing after the cut.

Moving right along with the transition to the new website — moving galleries over as quickly as possible. Unfortunately with the old Fly By Night Design coverage I cannot easily port the thumbnails and the comments, so I may end up saving all of the old HTML galleries as a separate archive site here. Anyhow, until then….
