Bar Poker – Results for the day..

February 22nd, 2009 No comments

After an epic 9 hours of play, I’m pokered out but happy and ready for my next foray into Vegas.

End result, I spent 6 hours staring at a really cute woman from Wales who was serving our room, and almost busting out before making an epic comeback, leaving me 20 ahead after food and tips and stuff.

No, I didn’t get her number.  I’m way too introverted for that.  Poker details for you diehards after the cut.

Sick Deals : Stay in Vegas, get $300 Airline Voucher

February 19th, 2009 No comments

This is a sick deal.  If you stay 2-3 nights at a Harrah’s casino location in Vegas, you can snag a $200 or $300 voucher for your next flight out (to take place within 9 months.)

Pulse of Vegas – Get Your Wings

If my upcoming trip wasn’t already scheduled to be in someone’s room, I’d really look at this.  Some of the room offers are for places like Imperial Palace, for which rooms can drop to $50 a night..  (Some of you readers may be very interested in this offer anyway!)

Men see bikini-clad women as objects, psychologists say – CNN.com

Men see bikini-clad women as objects, psychologists say – CNN.com

So there was a bit of a study done on this particular piece of human nature.

The quote of the article that deserves a certain amount of laughter is this…

New research shows that, in men, the brain areas associated with handling tools and the intention to perform actions light up when viewing images of women in bikinis.

Intention to perform actions….. This is a surprise?  ^_^;;

Star Trek: The Experience being revived.

February 18th, 2009 No comments

So I know some of you are Star Trek fans.  Don’t lie, you’re out there.  A few of you.  ;)    Anyway, the original Star Trek: Experience attraction was at the Hilton for 11 years, but shut down in September..

Well, if you were disappointed at never getting to see it, there’s good news.  Its being resurrected.  Its coming back.  Spring 2009 – to Downtown Vegas at the Neonopolis.  Its even being updated and tweaked.  Word is it’ll incorporate the recent work, and even the upcoming movie.

In Business Las Vegas

Now, as much as I may be worried about it incorporating the upcoming movie…  It’ll be nice to see this attraction back to life again.  While it felt a little dorky and cheesy it was still good fun for any Star Trek fan.  Hopefully they do a good job with the revival.  (Neonopolis is a mall in Downtown, I really hope it doesn’t turn into a broken shopping mall display…)

Trying to Live on 500K in New York City – NYTimes.com

Trying to Live on 500K in New York City – NYTimes.com

This is a decent little article adding up the costs of living a “Moderately Well to Do Lifestyle” in New York City, and how 500,000 a year is not that much.

…..  I’m sorry, but I’m still not feeling very sympathetic.  ^_^;;   When people who make far less are all still worried about even having a job, I really just can’t make myself be disappointed for upper-class individuals who are paid princely sums (in comparison to us) and have also made the city that much more expensive to live in.  Boo hoo.

On a different note, I’m thankful that I continue to be employed, and have nothing to complain about.

Yeaaaah…  So this morning, this is what I ran into when I got to my track.  The train.  Doors closed in my face.  Then pulling away.
As one coworker stated eloquently, “Faced with that you discover curse words you never even realized you knew..”
