Today’s been a lazy sunday. Have been cleaning and doing much needed chores. Then decided to fire up my old nemesis, Pokerstars. Lady Luck is being good to me today.
I entered a satellite tournament with player points. Top 50 out of 500 players get to an $80,000 tournament. I played tight, played good poker, and only needed one really dramatic rescue..

Catching the Filament

Its always intriguing to me when you can actually see the filament glowing in an incandescent lightbulb. A local restaurant has these 120V bulbs dimmed down enough to actually photograph.
The women instructed me to post this. Apparently I’m good at the ponies.

So get this. They’ve turned this umbrella into a speaker. One that only transmits sound to the person underneath the umbrella.
Not only does this amuse me greatly and come across as pretty damned cool – but when I saw it I only thought one thing.

I was sitting at my desk, distracted with some work. The last thing I’d seen was that Obama had 207. I’d paused my Tivo to listen to something else, and in my usual way was putzing around with other things. My primary notification that something had occured was the screaming I started hearing from the streets. In moments I’d switched my webpage and seen that the Obama had crossed the threshold.
Whatever you may think about the election, about the candidates, or what have you — the moment in time is significant. It may not be the cure-all that people wish it to be, but historical it is nonetheless.
The internet was buzzing, and the streets outside were filled with shouting, horns honking, celebratory screams, and then fireworks. About 15 minutes of this, and I couldn’t resist any longer.
