Wednesday Ruminations – things are OK-laaa.

October 22nd, 2008 No comments

On my cab ride to Penn Station today, I ended up in the cab with a Cantonese speaking driver, listening to the Cantonese AM radio station.  Listening to the traffic report, it struck me that the phrase “OK” has worked its way into any Cantonese speaker who has lived either in the states or in HK.  Its even has Cantonese modifiers applied to it.  For example, “OK” becomes “OKlaaaa” when things are only sorta OK.   I found this amusing.

Go Speed Racer Go, Mach a Go Go!

I want to play Penn Station Train Track KENO.   Take odds as to which train track your particular train is going to go on, or go for combinations.  “I’ll take the 9:10 on track 2, with the 9:15 on track 7 and the outside track 13 for the delayed 8:30 to Washington DC.”

Well its a lie its a lie – don’t you believe it, if you’re fine then you’re fine – its all how you see it.

I’m sipping away at my coffee, with sore shoulderblades, sore arms, sore legs and sore buttocks.  Its a good sore, although I really need to stretch a bit or I’m going to lose range of motion.   Getting through induction and my carb addiction is slow going this time around tho.  Probably because I’m quasi cheating all the time..  Cream in the coffee, etc.. Grrr…

Ain’t notihin’ gonna break my stride, Nobody’s gonna slow me down, oh-no, I got to keep on movin’!

Sunseenli said it right, I’ve got senioritis when it comes to the con scene now.

And that good people is why, he got dolled up and dropped by, with sixty elephants…

Busted out of a 25 cent tourney yesterday.  I had K2 with two kings on the board, giving me trip kings.  The opponent had the other K and a kicker that had also paired, giving him the full house.  *mutter*

How many times can I break till I shatter, over the line can’t define what I’m after..

Quick, here’s a meme!  I deliberately did NOT mark states that I only passed through.

visited 20 states (40%)

So what’s your Wednesday Rumination?   A penny for your thoughts and halfpence for your song.

Ideas and Ponderings and Bad Stick Figure Drawings

October 21st, 2008 No comments

Random Stick Guy Humm.. I think I need to come up with some characters to get sketched out.  Or even just a sketch of myself.  *ponder*

My own sketching skills are totally down the drain.  Bah.

He has no body!  NO BODY!  noooo!

On a different note, this article about “missed connections” forums (where people post about people they saw but didn’t approach, etc) reminded me of a little photo shoot I want to do.  Lets see how long I can get away with putting stuff up on train platforms without getting arrested, eh?

Photopost : Meh.

October 21st, 2008 No comments

Meh.The photo reflects my mood today.  The sky’s blue, life’s not bad, things are going ok.  Everything’s really OK, there’s nothing that I can complain about.

The monkeys are there though, and I’ve gotta start taking care of them this week.

A little down today.  *flips on the stoic switch*

So what’s up folks?  Talk to me.  How’s it going?

Photo Post : Become your Dream

October 21st, 2008 No comments

De La Vega - Become your DreamIn my wanderings on Saturday through the East Village with Mar, we walked by the De La Vega gallery. De La Vega tends to chalk draw outside when he’s there, at least that’s my guess. He was busy on Saturday. I like this recurring fishbowl + fish theme that he uses. There are others, and I will perhaps post them as I get time.

There was another bit either he or someone else had scrawled on the sidewalk that day, “Enjoy Today as if it were your 3rd from last.” I like that.

Improvised Air Conditioning InstallationI got home fairly late on Monday night from another session working on Sunseenli’s computer with Skyesurfer.  We’ve determined that her machine (nicknamed Chii) seems to work only when she’s propped on my lap.   Oy vey.

I also introduced them to Dai Di played Doc style — I lost two hands then took the third with the patented “Five card, Five Card, Pair 2, single out” move…   The girls threw me out after that.   XD

This alleyway shot was taken on the way home.   Note the air conditioner propped on i-beams.   I would not want to walk down that alleyway..

I’m sorry for being remote and quite lately – alot has been on my mind.  I’ll be back to my usual posting self soon, once I finish wrapping up some of these monkeys.  (Most of which are my own doing..)

Time Wasters / Cool : thisissand.com

This is simple, and yet fun.  Makes me feel like I’m 10 years old again, playing with sand at a fair, pouring colors into bottles to take home and show off.   It turns your browser into sand, to play with.  Just go there and try it.  You’ll see.   *thumbs up*

Overheard in our coffee/snack vendor area…

Cubicle Bunny #1 : What is wrong with you today? *Watching Cubicle Bunny #2 bouncing around the coffee stand*

Cubicle Bunny #2 : Nothing!  I talked with the devil today!

Cubicle Bunny #1 : Which devil? … Oh, you mean Satan.

Camera Porn : 17-85 Lens Guts – Exposed for all to peek.

October 6th, 2008 No comments

Camera Porn - 17-85 Torn ApartCamera geeks will get an absolute kick out of this.  A user faced with a broken 17-85 EF-S Canon lens decided to take it apart.   This is a beaut – and kinda scary when you look at just how complex these lenses are.  A significant number of closeup photos are available at the actual forum — 17-85 Exposed – FM Forums

Link originally from Gizmodo, but I’ve linked you to the original Fred Miranda forum.  Enjoy.
