Alrighty.
Its not the best system out there. However, for an office desk, its pretty damned nifty.
Fill out a survey, convince them that you’ll promote the product, and get a full kit for $15 in shipping. Its definitely legit — looks like its a joint marketing venture between Phillips and Sara Lee. I paypaled my payment, and had the unit in about 7 days. Have used it all day today.
The Good : Its pretty slick looking, generates coffee pretty damned fast, and fits in the corner of my cubicle quite easily. Also doubles as a hot water maker. Dirt cheap. Easy cleanup with the pod system - and drinkable coffee. Cheaper than paying 1.75 per cup in the building’s snack area. The water/coffee is PIPING HOT.
The Bad : Its idea of a cup of coffee is 4oz. That’s a SIP to me. The basic pods will barely generate 8oz before turning into water - and stir your coffee before sipping or you’ll get something that tastes like dirty water. Its also still a kitchen appliance - using in the office might some funny looks. It also sounds like you’ve got a vibrator — put some tape on the metal rack to dampen the vibrations.
The expected : Of course they expect you to use their pods - how else do they make their money? There are refillable pods and also third party filter replacements. Water tank is tiny - holds only about 7 cups (28 oz) of water before pinging empty. Takes up, if you think about it, similar space to an average coffee maker - larger than a hotel coffee maker. No heating element to keep your coffee warm - you’re SUPPOSED to drink it right away folks.
Anyhow - if you’re willing to sign up to pimp their stuff, $15 is a heck of a deal.
