The cynic in me really wants to dislike the movie. He says, “Come on, another movie that’s feel good, inspirational, and too good to possibly ever happen in real life? Yeah, give it up, its more drek.”
But yuaknow what — inspirational, feel good movies have their place. So if this pops up on Showtime near you, take a moment and watch it. You’ll have a warm spot in your heart, watching a rough neighborhood kid do well at the Spelling Bee.
Oh, and I’ll refrain from being snippy about the “jerk” of the movie being Chinese. -_-;
Seriously tho - its a pretty typical but decently executed inspirational film, good for the spirit.
