Galleries : Hawaii & Old Conventions
Moving right along with the transition to the new website — moving galleries over as quickly as possible. Unfortunately with the old Fly By Night Design coverage I cannot easily port the thumbnails and the comments, so I may end up saving all of the old HTML galleries as a separate archive site here. Anyhow, until then….
A few pics, a few thoughts, under the cut.
Like many of my photos since 2001, I never got around to posting the really special shots from this set. Most of the photos here are what I consider “previews” only. That being said, now that I have a working gallery system and a drive to update more often, hopefully I’ll catch up with these really soon.. ^_^
Lots of old and fond memories in these galleries. These comprise all of the photos that are currently housed over at FBND, from the days when I ran around with my camera rig taking pictures at all the cons I went to.
That role has been taken over by many other people now — from the originals like Lillard, to the new breed like David Ng and the folks over at Lost Avalon.
I still miss it sometimes — and I still enjoy shooting. However these days I prefer to shoot people I know, and I don’t much enjoy the cattle call that happens at most conventions when a good costume shows up. I’d much rather have time to really set up a few good photos. That isn’t to denegrate those who shoot fast and furious, there’s a special skill required to do it — I just don’t much enjoy it anymore, and as such I know I’ve lost much of any skill I had in that realm.
Anyway, I’ve rambled enough. Back to work for me!
